What to Expect at the Day of the Dead Latin Market

Part of Latin American Heritage Month (LAHM), the Day of the Dead Latin Market takes place in two different locations on back-to-back weekends. The first celebration happens on October 24th and 25th at The Amazing Brentwood Mall in Burnaby. Celebrations then continue on October 31st and November 1st on Granville Island.

The events bring together Latin culture, community spirit and artistic expression through food, music, crafts and workshops. Inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday, the market celebrates life, remembrance and creativity. Guests are encouraged to wear traditional Catrina and Catrin costumes to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. 

 

A Latin American Market Experience 

Visitors can explore a wide selection of Latin American vendors, offering handmade goods, art, jewelry, clothing and cultural décor. Food stalls serve authentic Latin flavours such as tacos, tamales, empanadas and pan de muerto. The event also features live performances, DJ sets and dance shows from talented local and international artists.

In addition to shopping and entertainment, the market includes interactive workshops and hands-on craft activities. Guests are invited to decorate sugar skulls, build small altars (ofrendas) and learn more about the cultural meaning behind the celebration.

2026 Locations and Admission

The Day of the Dead Latin Market takes place on two weekends:

  • October 24th & 25th: The Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm

  • October 31st & November 1st: Granville Island (1500 Old Bridge Street, Vancouver), from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

Admission is free, though online registration is recommended.
