What to Expect at the Day of the Dead Latin Market

Part of Latin American Heritage Month (LAHM), the Day of the Dead Latin Market takes place in October at The Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby and again in November on Granville Island. The event brings together Latin culture, community spirit and artistic expression through food, music, crafts and workshops.

Inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday, the market celebrates life, remembrance and creativity. Guests are encouraged to wear traditional Catrina and Catrin costumes to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.

A Latin American Market Experience

Visitors can explore a wide selection of Latin American vendors, offering handmade goods, art, jewelry, clothing and cultural décor. Food stalls serve authentic Latin flavours such as tacos, tamales, empanadas and pan de muerto. The event also features live performances, DJ sets and dance shows from talented local and international artists.

In addition to shopping and entertainment, the market includes interactive workshops and hands-on craft activities. Past sessions have invited guests to make marigold flowers, build small altars (ofrendas) and learn more about the cultural meaning behind the celebration.
