Vancouver’s Richmond Night Market
The Richmond Night Market is one of the most popular summer attractions in Metro Vancouver. It’s also widely recognized as the largest night market of its kind in North America. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse street food and energetic crowds, the market delivers an experience that closely resembles famous night markets found across Asia.
There are three main night markets in Metro Vancouver. The one in Richmond is the largest, but also the only one you have to pay to get into, and the only one you have to lineup for to get in. It’s pretty popular.
Fabulous night markets at amazing venues are the Shipyards Night Market in North Vancouver and the White Rock Night Market in White Rock. Both are at beautiful waterfront locations, have live music, and are highly recommended. Whereas the Richmond Night Market costs about $7 to enter, both of the other markets have free admission. All three events are great in different ways.
Richmond’s Asian Night Market
Operating seasonally from late spring through early fall, the Richmond Night Market draws both locals and tourists looking for a lively evening outing. In 2026 the market runs from April 24th to September 20th. It welcomes visitors on weekends as well as holiday Mondays throughout the season.
The market has grown significantly over the years and continues to evolve, offering new attractions alongside its well-loved food stalls and shopping vendors.
The Richmond Night Market remains a standout destination for those interested in Asian culture, street food and unique marketplace experiences. Whereas the Shipyards Night Market and White Rock Night Market specialize in locally-made artisan products, Richmond is where you’ll find all sorts of things imported from Asia.
A Must-Visit Summer Attraction for Food & Shopping
Food, Shopping and Entertainment
One of the biggest draws of the Richmond Night Market is its incredible selection of food. Visitors can explore dozens of vendors serving a wide range of Asian-inspired dishes, fusion snacks and creative festival-style treats. From skewers and seafood to desserts and specialty drinks, there is no shortage of options to try.
In addition to food, the market features rows of retail stalls selling everything from clothing and accessories to gadgets and novelty items. The bustling environment is filled with bright lights, music and the constant buzz of activity. You’ll really feel like you’re in Asia.
Live performances are sometimes featured on the main stage (but not always), which adds another layer of entertainment. In recent years, attractions such as a zipline ride over the market have also been introduced, enhancing the overall experience and giving visitors a unique perspective of the venue.
Location and Getting There
The Richmond Night Market is conveniently located along River Road, close to Bridgeport Station and the River Rock Casino Resort. Its proximity to public transit makes it relatively easy to access, although the area can become very busy during peak hours.
TIP: Because of its popularity, the market often attracts large crowds, especially on sunny weekends and holidays. This can mean long lines to get in and lots of people inside. Planning ahead and arriving earlier in the evening can help make the visit more enjoyable.
